A Message from your Chapter President, Ronald Schmidt
To my fellow DFW IMA Chapter Members,
To kick off the new IMA year, the Board Members met on June 17 to begin the process of defining next year's goals and objectives, as well as plan the upcoming Chapter events. The basis of our discussions was to continue to find ways to better serve our members and the local accounting and finance community, essentially Advancing the Profession -- the theme of IMA and also the desire of your Chapters Leadership.
We begin the year with a new board of directors for the 2010-2011 year, which includes both established leaders and new members. It is a pleasure to work with professionals with such a heartfelt desire to make our Chapter a success. Please always remember, that as a board, our aim is to serve you, our members. We have a great line-up to help develop our members' professional expertise. A lot of work is going into to putting together the new year's Technical and Dinner Seminar series and I strongly encourage you to take the extra effort to attend I feel your attendance will benefit both yourself and your fellow members.
In my view, the role of the IMA has become increasingly more important. As members, we need to influence the atmosphere in which management accountants and organizations work and achieve greater efficiencies in accounting practices and rules that enhance the meaningfulness and ease of reporting.
As president, I am committed and firmly believe that our chapter can assist all members in their journey to develop new relationships, meet new challenges, and grow professionally. I encourage you all to attend our meetings and special activities this year, pursue the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation which has experienced record-breaking enrollment since the launch of its revised two-part program ---and to network with others who work in the accounting profession.
And for those that may have missed prior notification, the DFW chapter is a banner winning chapter once again. Lets all of us congratulate Stephanie Carpenter for her great job last year in managing the chapter and board, and for leading us to another banner.
I look forward to seeing all of you during the coming year and invite you to attend and participate whenever and however you can.
Ronald Schmidt, CMA, CFM
